This sensor was made for research purposes mainly, where sophisticated analysis of balance of forces on the boat hull and rower’s CM is required (see RBN 2019/01-02).
The sensor measures three force components applied to the pin in the boat reference frame (relative to the boat hull and not rotating with the oar, as it is measured with the instrumented gate):
In conjunction with the foot-stretcher force sensor, this instrumented C-bracket allows calculation of propulsive force produced by a rower and applied to the boat, which can help in evaluation of both the technique effectiveness and quality of the equipment.
The sensor replaces the original C-bracket mounting of the pin, so it can be used with bow-mounted wing riggers only. The capacity of the sensor allows to use the same design with both sculling and sweep rowing.
The sensor connect to one port of Master or Slave unit using its 3 channels, so the 4th channel of the port is available for other sensors.
